Lead #1: A local couple, involved in a traffic accident in March, were in a Butte County courtroom yesterday. The couple, who suffered injuries, sued however and were awarded $150,ooo in damages.
Lead #2: Forecasters say that another snowstorm is expected to hit the Sierras today. It is believed to be part of a series of snowstorms that are anticipated.
Lead #3: Three firefighters were injured, and forty-one families were evacuated today as a result of fire according to police. The fire is said to have roared through their six-story building located at 204 Union Ave., we will update you with the condition of the firemen as it is released.

1) What's news is that the couple won a big award ... so start there, then explain why they got it.
ReplyDelete2) First sentence works, but cut "It is believed ...." Just say it's the first of a series of storms ... or incorporate that info into your first sentence.
3) Good start, but combine your two sentences. Get rid of the "we will update you" part -- that would work for broadcast, but not for print/online.
